A not really spectacular Ligue 1 shock. RC Lens, 7th before kick-off, scored a narrow victory (1-0) against Brest, 2nd, Saturday March 9 at the Bollaert stadium. Franck Haise’s men thus put an end to the series of 13 unbeaten matches in the Stade Brestois championship and provisionally move to 4th place, ahead of their local rival Lille, who faces Stade Rennais on Sunday (5:05 p.m.).

After having slapped Olympique Lyonnais a week earlier (3-0), the Sang et Or had much more difficulty in front of goal and had to settle for an achievement from Ruben Aguilar, his first in three and a half years (32nd). The full-back found himself at the conclusion of a cross David Pereira da Costa headed the first time onto the post by Elye Wahi, which he caught with an unstoppable helmet strike.

A poorly rewarded Brest siege

But the meeting was above all marked by waste in front of goal on both sides. Whether it is a shot attempted without much conviction by Romain Del Castillo (26th), an action where Neil El Aynaoui, well launched by Przemyslaw Frankowski, locked himself alone (29th) or with a double attempt from Elye Wahi in depth, looking more for the penalty than the finish (39th, 40th).

In the second half the bad luck was mainly Brest’s, with a poor recovery from Mahdi Camara on a cross from Pierre Lees-Melou (56th), a heavy strike from Hugo Magnetti which forced Brice Samba to take the feat (63rd) , a combination between Kenny Lala and Martin Satriano, who found the amount (79th), before a final attempt by the Uruguayan following a Billal Brahimi festival stopped at the last minute by the Lensois goalkeeper (84th). The Lensois did not shoot during the last 40 minutes, but suffered without flinching to achieve their first victory against a club in the top 6 of Ligue 1 this season.
