Lens and Rennes will spend the break on the podium

The winter fog is already invading Bollaert at the start of November, but the Lensois will spend the next month warm, firmly established in second place in Ligue 1. Winners of Clermont (2-1) after being led to the score, Saturday 12 November, during the 15th day of Ligue 1, the Lensois showed character to clinch a fifth victory in a row in the league. Undefeated since the derby lost in Lille in early October, the Artésiens are solid dolphins, temporarily two points behind PSG, and eight ahead of third-placed Rennes, who won against Toulouse at home (2-1 ).

As often when the scenario gets complicated in Lens, it was Seko Fofana who donned the Blood and Gold hero costume. to his own (2-1, 69th). His control sequence in the middle of the race, a mischievous ball between the goalkeeper’s legs was a real delight, which made Bollaert exult. Because until then, Franck Haise’s men had drawn against the Auvergnats.

Well in place defensively, the Clermontois had indeed surprised Lens at the end of the first act, on a corner kicked by Khaoui, deflected by Kyei, and finally pushed into his own net by Abdul Samed, him the former … Clermontois. Dominating but drafts, the Lensois then found themselves with their backs to the wall, in the thick fog of the mining basin.

But it takes more to discourage this Racing, which never stops winning. Upon returning from the locker room, the Lensois continued with the same intensity, to which they had the good idea to add technical accuracy. And by dint of storming the Clermont fortress, they found a first fault, by Saïd, well served by Sotoca (1-1, 60th). A few minutes later, Seko Fofana put on his providential man costume, before a one-sided end to the match. Winner 2-1, Lens thus widens the gap in the standings, with a provisional eight-point lead over Rennes, third. The Sang et Or will end the calendar year in second place: it’s already Christmas.

Later in the evening, Stade Rennais won, not without difficulty, against Toulouse (2-1). The Bretons fell on a great Maxime Dupé in the Toulouse goal, but Benjamin Bourigeaud then Arnaud Kalimuendo found their way to the net, despite the equalizer, in the meantime, from Thijs Dallinga. They temporarily distance Marseille, Monaco and Lorient, who have four points less but a game behind, to be played on Sunday.
