The big unknown in the first ballot remains abstention. 46% French people are sure to go and vote on Sunday June 12. What impact will this abstention have on the results?
A few days before the first round of the legislative elections, which will take place on Sunday June 12, how many French people will not vote? In Cambrais in the North, the electorate is rather popular. Many no longer believe in voting. “I don’t want to because I’m floundering, I don’t know who to vote for”said a woman. “It does not captivate me the elections of deputies. They are no longer useful”replies a man.
In this city, Marine Le Pen came out on top in the presidential election. However, traders who voted for her do not intend to mobilize on Sunday. “We’ve been voting for her for years, years that it hasn’t passed (…) by force, we’re fed up”justifies a trader. On the youth side, more than 40% those under 35 abstained from the first round of the presidential election. Despite everything, politics interests them, especially on the side of the left which “give a little more hope”. An elderly man says he has never abstained.
