During his speech on the evening of Wednesday June 22, Emmanuel Macron dismissed the hypothesis, for the moment, of a government of national unity. What options do the head of state have to avoid a parliamentary deadlock and pass his laws?

Emmanuel Macron faces a political puzzle: preside without an absolute majority with a scattered National Assembly. For him, three solutions are on the table. The first option is national union. Clearly, this is a government that would bring together all the political parties from left to right. An idea rejected by all opposition. In his speech wednesday June 22, the president therefore noted that this national union is not justified at this stage.

Second hypothesis: a grand coalition. Emmanuel Macron calls for it. To get out of the deadlock, the parties loyal to the president could join forces with the Republicans in particular. Edouard Philippe pleads for, but the leader of the Republicans, Christian Jacob, has already closed the door. Last option: find agreements on a case-by-case basis, depending on the bills. For example, for purchasing power, would it be possible to rely on the socialists? Emmanuel Macron gives political formations ten days to decide.
