Legislative 2022: “no vote for the extremes”, declares Xavier Bertrand, guest of the 20 Hours

Thursday June 16, the second round of the legislative elections is fast approaching and Xavier Bertrand, one of the figures of the Republicans (LR), has come to speak. He begins by praising President Emmanuel Macron’s initiative to go to Ukraine, with the wish to end the war. The president of the Hauts-de-France region is not worried about his Republican party: “The reality is that tomorrow we will be a strong, free, independent group.” He also wants to see the Head of State obtain only a relative majority in the legislative elections. “When he decides alone, he decides badly”he says in particular.

Xavier Bertrand refutes any agreement with the French president after the elections, but he does not want to see his party block the future reforms that will be put in place. The member of the Republicans hopes to see justice in the reforms, whether for purchasing power, but also for pension reform. He asserts in particular: “We will vote in the interest of the country because the interest of the country is the life of the French.” Critical of the start of the five-year term, Xavier Bertrand takes as an example the events of the Stade de France to express according to him “a return of disorder.” It gives no voting instructions between the Nudes and the National Rally, affirming that we should not give “no vote for the extremes”.
