Legendary producer Dr Dre announces new Eminem album this year

Guest of Jimmy Kimmel’s American television talk show this week, Dr Dre, who had just been honored with a star on Hollywood Boulevard, announced that a new Eminem album is in the starting blocks. He also had a few little surprises in store for the public.

California producer Dr. Dre, who changed the sound of hip-hop several times since NWA in the mid-80s, finally has his star on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. Tuesday March 19, the same evening, after the ceremony in his honor attended by Eminem, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent (as we can see in the photo above), Dr Dre, who cultivates a certain discretion in the media and rarely attends television shows, was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show.

On this occasion, he returned to his way of working and certain episodes of his career, before being joined by Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent, the trio also engaging in a parody sketch of Grey’s Anatomy, see below in this article.

This album is “fire”

But what everyone remembered was Dr. Dre’s announcement of a new Eminem album to be released this year, the first since Music To Be Murdered By released four years ago.

“Let me tell you something now”, said Dr. Dre while addressing the audience. “Eminem is working on his own album, which will be released this year. I spoke with him and he told me it was OK for me to make the announcement here. I have songs on the album and it’s fire”, he added. “I’m going to listen to it in full for the first time tomorrow.”

The rumor of a new Eminem album has been circulating since 2022, when he published on Instagram a photo of himself, in the studio, with Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg.

At Jimmy Kimmel, Dr Dre also confirmed that he was working on a new Snoop Dogg album, the first joint album according to him in thirty years, and for which they found a cheeky new title.

“The first album with Snoop was in 1993 and it’s the only album I produced for him“, emphasized Dr Dre – he however produced Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, The 8th^e Snoop Dogg’s studio album, with a host of guests in 2006, has he forgotten it?

“Whether you believe it or not, we’re together again and we’re almost done with this record. The first album was called Doggystyleso we decided to call this one Missionary,” he clarified, with Snoop evoking “a mix in mid-April”.

“Eminem is the best MC of all time”

Dr. Dre reiterated that while he has collaborated with dozens of artists including Jimmy Kimmel who was happy to read the endless list at full speed, “my love goes to hip-hop“He remembered his meeting with Snoop Dogg, thanks to Warren G.”Snoop had no idea about song structures. He just came to rap. Apart from Eminem and Snoop, I never discovered other artists thanks to demo tapes“, he added.

He also said he was sometimes disconcerted by his fans: one day he met a group of nuns, all excited to meet him. “But how do you know my music?, he was surprised. They told him that the young people they looked after were constantly playing his songs.

Last Friday (March 15, 2024), guest on James Corden’s show on Sirius XM radio, Dr. Dre revealed that he suffered three strokes in 2021 in the space of three weeks. At the hospital, in intensive care, the doctors considered him a miracle. “It makes you appreciate being alive.”, he stressed. In this interview with James Corden, he also discussed his work with Eminem, whom he considers “the best MC of all time”. “His writing, his delivery and his imagination are extraordinary. No one can say otherwise. No rapper can surpass him on the mic.”he greeted.
