There was a time in Quebec when the “head” of the government insisted on literally “breaking” the unions and manipulating state employees and private sector workers until he won his case in the conflict between them. Well, there seems to be a return to this unhealthy contempt with which Prime Minister Legault acts in the current negotiations, particularly towards teachers and nurses.

Currently, negotiations are at a standstill with regard to salaries and the organization of work. For his part, François Legault finds nothing more useful to do than to rant against the unions, who, according to him, persist in wanting to manage our public services, and to proclaim that the future of these services is in danger. if he does not obtain the expected flexibility.

Listening to the Prime Minister speak, we get the impression that he would like to free employees from the yoke of their union. In reality, he does not seem to understand the exceptional mobilization of his employees in support of their demands and their rejection of the government’s proposals.

Mr. Legault, your approach is literally outdated. You won’t be able to manipulate union members by playing with their feelings like you do. Teachers and nurses alike are fed up with having to submit to inhumane tasks. It is high time that you listened attentively to their demands…
