(Quebec) Prime Minister François Legault will convene the National Assembly for November 29, which will give rise to a very short parliamentary session before the holiday break.

The Press announced, the day after the elections of October 3, that the deputies will sit after the Francophonie Summit which is to take place in Tunisia on November 19 and 20. According to information confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday, parliamentarians will set foot in the Blue Room on November 29.

On that day, the deputies will elect the president of the National Assembly, as required by parliamentary procedure. It is on track to be a president for the second time only in history, after Louise Harel in 2002-2003: Nathalie Roy is a candidate and has the support of François Legault.

On November 30, the Prime Minister will deliver the opening address for the session, the roadmap for his second term.

Francois Legault has promised his first-ever bill of the session will seek to cap government rate hikes at 3% or inflation if lower. It could be tabled on 1er december.

And as Mr. Legault promised, checks for $400 to $600 will be sent during the same month to help Quebecers earning less than $100,000 a year to cope with the exceptional increase in the cost of living. .

The schedule for the start of the session of the National Assembly is very similar to that of 2018, when, significantly, there was a change of government.

After the elections of 1er October, François Legault had convened the National Assembly for November 27. MPs had sat for two weeks before the holiday break. They had resumed work at the beginning of February.

After the swearing-in ceremony of the 21 Liberal MPs on Tuesday morning, it is the turn of the 90 MPs of the Coalition avenir Québec to take the oath in the afternoon. François Legault will unveil his new cabinet on Thursday.
