Premier François Legault dangled voters in the riding of Marie-Victorin on the benefits of electing a member of the ruling party.
In a radio interview, broadcast on Wednesday, Mr. Legault put forward the candidacy of Shirley Dorismond, who wears the colors of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) for this by-election.
“When you have a deputy who comes from the government, transmitting his local files to his fellow ministers is much easier,” he said on FM 103.3. When you have a member of the CAQ in Marie-Victorin, it is certain that she will bring Marie-Victorin’s files to the government of the CAQ. »
This declaration made the PQ MP Pascal Bérubé react. He accused Mr. Legault of having made discriminatory remarks in his interview on this radio station in Longueuil.
“The Prime Minister says in an interview that we must elect a 76and member of the CAQ, because it will be better for the progress of the files of the people of Longueuil, he wrote on social media. This argument has no place in a democracy. No discrimination, please. »
The Parti Québécois is represented by Pierre Nantel in Marie-Victorin, where the ballot is scheduled for April 11.
