led by two goals at half-time, Nantes overthrows Lens and wins at La Beaujoire

Lens can still blame itself. For the fourth consecutive time, the Sang et Or have let slip the three points in a game they led by the score. After Angers (2-2), Clermont (2-2) and PSG (1-1) last week, Lens was taken back, then beaten by Nantes this Friday, December 10 at the Beaujoire stadium (3-2). The Nantes enclosure and its supporters exploded with joy on the splendid goal of Moses Simon, in the last seconds of the match (90th).

Nothing, however, foreshadowed such an outcome. “We completely missed our first half, they put us in difficulty“, indicated Ludovic Blas at the end of the meeting. Overwhelmed by the very good start to the match of Lensois, FC Nantes quickly found themselves behind by two goals after the first from David Pereira Da Costa (7th) and the second registered a few minutes later by Arnaud Kalimuendo (15th).

After four games without a win, RC Lens (5th in the standings) finally saw itself moving forward. The Sang et Or seemed to retain the voucher for the convincing performance against PSG last Saturday and leave aside the mistakes that had allowed the Parisians to return in the last moments of the match. Nothing seemed to be able to make the Blood and Gold tremble in mastery. But opposite, the Nantes (13th) did not remain amorphous.

We talked in the locker room to do what we did in the second half. Scoring early enough allowed us to continue well“, indicated Blas after the match. Before Simon put on the liberator cape at the very end of the match, Randal Kolo Muani played the saviors thanks to a double in ten minutes which allowed Nantes to pick up the score (49th, 58th), barely fifteen minutes after returning from the locker room.

It finally took the double winning choice of Antoine Kombouaré to reverse the situation in the last moments of the meeting. The Nantes coach had chosen to start on the bench, for the first time this season, his Nigerian midfielder Moses Simon. Very efficient at the start of the championship, the winger has been losing ground in recent weeks.

The click wanted by Kombouaré worked perfectly when Simon came into play before delivering the Beaujoire with a splendid strike, a few seconds before added time. With this success torn off in the last seconds of the match, FC Nantes provisionally climbs to 10th place. RC Lens, who now remain in five games without a win, are still 5th but could tumble in the standings at the end of the weekend.
