Lebanon | Ottawa will send 65 million for humanitarian aid and economic development

(Ottawa) The Minister of International Development, Ahmed Hussen, announced Friday a 65 million aid program for Lebanon.

Canada will in fact provide 38 million for aid for the country’s economic development and an additional 27 million for humanitarian aid.

The development fund will be channeled through United Nations agencies like UN Women.

Global Affairs Canada, the department responsible for diplomatic and consular relations, says the money is intended to support local farmers, businesses run by women as well as women involved in politics.

The ministry says the humanitarian aid will be used to provide food, water and health care.

He did not specify which groups should distribute the aid or who the intended beneficiaries are.
