Lebanon explosions | Japanese manufacturer says its devices had not been produced for “about ten years”

(Tokyo) Japanese manufacturer Icom said Thursday it stopped producing “about a decade ago” the walkie-talkies suspected of exploding in Lebanon on Wednesday, killing members of Hezbollah, which accused Israel of booby-trapping them.

“The IC-V82 is a portable radio that was produced and exported, including to the Middle East, from 2004 to October 2014. It was discontinued about 10 years ago, and since then it has not been shipped by our company,” Icom said in a statement.
