Support lessons before the start of lessons, classes in slippers and with free movement, mental calculation in the form of relays in the courtyard, Fabrice Réchède’s methods are surprising, but the teacher is proud of them.

Before the start of classes, Fabrice Réchède, teacher in CM1-CM2 at the Jacques-Prévert school in Vignau (Landes), helps students in difficulty. “I prefer them to come in the morning because they are more willing to work”, he points out. The village of Vignau and its less than 500 inhabitants has only two primary classes, including that of Fabrice Réchède, totally devoted. He has developed a method to channel the energy of his CM1-CM2. In slippers and allowed to move freely in the classroom, they learn the multiplication tables by playing cards.

A method that has a name: the flexible class. The teacher is convinced that students need to move to learn better. An exercise bike has even been installed in the classroom. It seems that it works on concentration when it’s time to read, no more noise crosses the class. The students are autonomous and disciplined, despite the apparent relaxation. For mental arithmetic, the ingenious professor organized a relay mixed in the yard to make children love math.
