Canadian striker Jonathan David is in the running for the title of player of the year in the French Championship.
The Lille player is in good company, facing Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain, and Loïs Openda and Seko Fofana from Racing Club de Lens.
The winner will be known on May 28 during the UNFP Trophies ceremony. The UNFP is the French equivalent of the Professional Footballers’ Association in England and Wales.
David is currently the third top scorer in Ligue 1 with 21 goals, behind Mbappe’s 26 and Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette’s 22.
Internationally, the 23-year-old from Ottawa has scored 24 goals in 40 caps with Canada.
