The leaders of the G7, meeting in Germany since Sunday June 26, must convince the emerging countries to support the sanctions against Russia.

G7 leaders invited emerging countries to take part in discussions on Monday 27 June. “By welcoming the Heads of State and Government of India, Senegal and South Africa, the G7 hopes to broaden the front against Vladimir Putin”explained journalist Valérie Astruc, special correspondent in Germany, on Monday. “The Western camp needs these countries for the sanctions against Russia to be effective. However, these emerging powers are already tempted to source Russian oil, not to mention that India has banned exports of its own grains, fueling soaring food prices”said the journalist.

“But these countries refused to vote to condemn Russia at the UN. (United Nations Organization) and some of them received Vladimir Putin by videoconference four days ago.added Valérie Astruc. “To attract these countries which are bearing the brunt of the food crisis, the G7 has promised to release 45 billion euros to avoid a world famine”concluded the journalist.
