A few days ago, Léa Salamé had to say goodbye to her colleague Laurent Ruquier. The latter returned the apron and left We are live. If she sent him a moving speech for his departure, she did not always work that way.
In effect, the journalist was heavily hit on by a politician in her early days. “40-year-old women are at the height of their lives, their beauty, their power. I didn’t understand at all. I had the impression that he was telling me that at 25, I was ugly! There was no harassment, but a form of strong flirting” told Léa Salamé in the podcast InPower.
But some may not have known that on the side of his family, there is a whole empire. Indeed, his mother Mary Boghossian is the sister of diamond dealers Jean and Albert Boghossian. It all started at the beginning of the 20th century when their Armenian clan moved to Lebanon to start trading in precious stones.
For his part, Albert Boghossian, who is part of the third generation of diamond dealers, settled in Geneva in the 1980s to carry on his heritage. “I chose Geneva to settle in 1980 because, at the time, it was the emerging place in the trade of precious stones. It was the ideal place for me, at the crossroads of the Orient and the West. It’s a magical profession that can’t be learned very much. The best school is that of experience (…) We don’t want to be like the others. Over the years, I have had the chance to meet great private collectors. Thanks to their special orders, I have made exceptional jewelry that has allowed me to push my limits” he confided to Balance sheet.
Passionate about his job, he started with an internship as an emerald cutter. Very inspired by Indian art, the two brothers offer unique jewels whether it is the different stone sizes or the layering with wood. To give you an idea, they sold a 20-carat pink diamond sold for 30 million francs to an Asian collector in 1997. With their own jewelry collection, the duo makes more than 500 sales a day. What to be at the head of a very beautiful fortune.
