Searches are underway, Wednesday April 3, at the town hall of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) and at the headquarters of the urban community, as part of a preliminary investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office opened in December 2023, franceinfo learned from a source judicial, confirming information from the World. The investigation follows the filing, in July, of a complaint which targets in particular the mayor of the city, Edouard Philippe.

These procedures “are involved in a preliminary investigation opened in December 2023 on charges of ‘illegal taking of interests’, ‘favoritism’, ’embezzlement of public funds’ and ‘moral harassment’, Franceinfo learned.

The City and the Urban Community confirmed the searches. “The Mayor, elected officials and teams of the City of Le Havre and the Le Havre Seine Métropole Urban Community are fully and serenely at the disposal of the prosecution”they say in a press release.

The complaint was filed in July by the former deputy director general of the urban community, chaired by Edouard Philippe. She denounces in particular a circumvention of the rules for awarding public contracts for the operation of the Digital City of Le Havre. In addition to the former Prime Minister, it specifically targets the deputy mayor in charge of innovation and digital technology, Stéphanie de Bazelaire, and the general director of urban community services, Claire-Sophie Tasias.
