“Le Devoir” in the running for a prize from the Canadian Association of Journalists

The duty is in the running for the Canadian Association of Journalists’ (CAJ) annual investigative journalism competition. Anne-Marie Provost’s article on the climate in Kenya is among the finalists in the category rewarding coverage of climate change and the environment.

“This year’s ACJ Awards finalists showcase the dynamic power of storytelling and the critical role public service journalists play in holding the powerful to account,” said the organization, which advocates for rights and professional development for journalists across the country.

The text, first in a series of reports from Duty in Kenya, exposes the drought to which the country has been plagued for several years, just like other countries in the Horn of Africa. Five consecutive rainy seasons have seen lower than normal precipitation coupled with higher temperatures.

The winners will be announced on 1er June at a gala in Toronto that will culminate the CAJ’s 2024 national conference, Journalism and How to Survive It.
