Public finances, Low wages… Marylise Léon, general secretary of the CFDT was the guest of “8h30 franceinfo” Friday April 19, 2024. She responded to Hadrien Bect and Jules de Kiss

“Stop considering that work is a cost”

The general secretary of the CFDT, Marylise Léon calls on the government to “stop low-cost social policies” if he wants to hope “de-microcardize France”as Prime Minister Gabriel Attal promised during his general policy speech last January.

The boss of the CFDT recalls that “Smicards are mainly women, at 57% and they make up 17% of the active population today, which is enormous and a figure that has never been reached for 20 years”. For Marylise Léon, it is necessary “stop low-cost social policies, with companies that are completely fed on public aid, exemptions from contributions and which do not have a salary policy worthy of the name”. She therefore calls for “stop considering work to be a cost”.

Public finances: “It is totally insane that the return to balance is achieved solely on expenditure”

“It is totally insane that the return to balance is achieved solely on expenditure,” judge Marylise Léon, general secretary of the CFDT. On Thursday, Gabriel Attal did not want to detail the options for the new envelope of 10 billion euros in savings expected for June, after a first decision in February. The Prime Minister, however, assured that the commitment to a tax cut of 2 billion euros “will be required”.

For Marylise Léon, “it is high time to look at the revenue side” of the State because “lower spending means less social spending for the most vulnerable, and that is totally unacceptable”. The CFDT does not “deny the problem of budgetary balance” but calls for a “distribution of efforts” which is “fair”.

Announcements from Gabriel Attal on minor violence: “Elements that are reheated and smell a little like mothballs”

Surge of authority”, “general mobilization”, “the Republic strikes back”… Gabriel Attal defended his record on Thursday for his hundredth day in Matignon and announced a rapid response from his government against youth violence during a speech in Viry-Châtillon (Essonne). “There have been a lot of announcements, a lot of communication, relatively few actions, so we are still waiting for things that are a little more concrete”, reacts the general secretary of the CFDT, Marylise Léon. On education, these are “elements which are more reheated or which smell a little like mothballs”she tackles.
