The Alouettes’ successes last week did not go unnoticed. Three flagship players from Montreal, running back William Stanback, receiver Eugene Lewis and defensive back Monshadrik Hunter, earned the honors of the week in the Canadian Football League.
Stanback, 27, totaled 203 yards on 24 carries, tying his personal best, in addition to registering a touchdown. He notably managed 65 and 41 yard runs. For the former Virginia Union Panthers, this is the fifth game over 100 yards this season.
Lewis caught seven passes for a 156 win and scored two touchdowns.
Hunter was one of the turning points in the 37-16 victory over the Toronto Argonauts, when he made his first interception early in the second quarter. She led to Lewis’ first touchdown. The 26-year-old defensive back ended the game with two interceptions, knocking down two assists and making a defensive tackle.
The Alouettes, who sit first in the Eastern Division, play their next game on Saturday against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
