The British Parliament approved on the night of Monday April 22 to Tuesday April 23 the bill allowing the expulsion to Rwanda of asylum seekers who entered the United Kingdom illegally.

On Tuesday April 23, the British parliament approved the bill allowing the expulsion to Rwanda of asylum seekers who entered the United Kingdom illegally. This project is presented as a flagship measure of its policy to combat illegal immigration.

The controversy is growing in the United Kingdom. The text provides that some of the asylum seekers who arrive illegally in the United Kingdom would be sent to Rwanda, so that their request is studied there by the Rwandan authorities, and that they can, if the request is validated, settle in the country. The goal for the United Kingdom is that part of the requests are no longer managed by London, but above all to discourage Channel crossings.

A remuneration

The British government plans to pay 3,500 euros to asylum seekers who voluntarily wish to be relocated to Rwanda. Relocated asylum seekers will be allowed to work legally in Rwanda and will receive assistance from local authorities, notably for housing.
