The STL and the local of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the FTQ, confirmed Friday the cancellation of this second day of strike which was to take place on November 15.

However, two other days of strike will take place on November 26 and 27, a Friday and a Saturday.

However, essential services will be provided. There had already been an agreement between the parties to this effect, during the first day of the strike on November 3.

However, another hearing will have to take place before the Administrative Labor Tribunal to determine the essential services for the 26 and 27, since the strike will this time include a Saturday.

Still in discussions

In the meantime, conciliation-mediation continues between the STL and the union of 625 bus drivers. Another meeting is scheduled for the 23rd, said STL management.

“We had a meeting yesterday from 9 am to 2 am. We took small steps. There is no upcoming settlement, but the discussions are still there, ”said union president Patrick Lafleur.

The Société de transport de Laval deplored the situation. “The management of the STL also continues to deplore the Union’s decision to hold strike days, imposing very limited hours on customers, while discussions are still ongoing. ”

The dispute concerns the maintenance of bus routes when demand is not sufficient, schedules and wages.
