(Montreal) An 88-year-old Laval resident died in the night from Monday to Tuesday, after being found “in critical condition” outside his private seniors’ residence, Les Jardins de Renoir, located in the Chomedey district.
“During the night, his wife woke up and noticed that he was no longer next to her in the bed”, which triggered searches inside and outside the residence, said Sergeant Geneviève Major, of the Laval Police Department. He went to bed around 10 p.m.
Police were called to the scene at 3 a.m. after the man was located. “There was a rapid transport which was made in a hospital center, where unfortunately his death was noted”, explained the sergeant.
It is not yet clear why he died, if it was malaise, hypothermia, for what reason he was released. These are all questions that are currently unanswered ”.

This is why “a team of investigators went to the scene this morning with agents from the forensic identity service, to try to understand the causes and circumstances of the death”.
Les Jardins de Renoir, along with their parent company, Cogir Residences, did not immediately respond to interview requests from The Canadian Press.
On the Cogir Residences website, we can read that Les Jardins de Renoir offer a “24-hour security” service and have surveillance cameras.
“The various residences mainly accommodate an independent, semi-autonomous or patient requiring care”, it is also indicated.
