Laval | Man suspected of sexual assault arrested again

(Laval) Media coverage by the police of alleged sexual behavior by the owner of an automobile mechanic workshop in Laval has borne fruit.

The Laval Police Service (SPL) reports that many other people have filed complaints against this man since his alleged actions made the headlines at the beginning of last month.

Investigators from the SPL’s Sex Crimes Squad first reported on September 8 that Chukri El Habre, 57, welcomed a person into his mechanic’s workshop on February 3 because she was feeling a problem with his car.

The owner of the establishment then asked him to take a test drive with him to help identify the problem with the vehicle. It seems that once in the passenger compartment, the individual engaged in sexual touching and that he committed others later, in the office of his workshop.

The suspect was arrested on May 17 for sexual assault in connection with the case. He was released on several conditions to be respected.

However, on Wednesday, investigators again arrested Chukri El Habre for several other cases related to crimes of a sexual nature that occurred over the last ten years. The accused was due to appear in court on Thursday to face charges of sexual assault, false imprisonment, criminal harassment and indecent acts.

It is to be able to contact other potential victims, as well as witnesses, that the SPL announced the new arrest on Thursday.
