A 42-year-old man seated at the Rubs BBQ American restaurant in Laval was the target of several shots in the middle of dinner Thursday, in front of several stunned customers. His life is not in danger.
Around 7:05 p.m. Thursday evening, a suspect entered the Rubs BBQ American restaurant, located on Dagenais Boulevard West in Laval. He then opened fire and shot several times at the victim, seated in the establishment, before fleeing.
Customers were on the scene at the time of the altercation, confirmed Stéphanie Béchara, spokesperson for the Laval police department. This Rubs branch is located in a small shopping center called Faubourg Dagenais, in the Laval-Ouest sector. It is surrounded by various shops as well as a daycare center.
No one except the victim was injured. The restaurant owner, joined by The Pressclaimed that he “had nothing to say”.
The target forty-something was hit in the lower body and was taken to hospital. His life would not be in danger, however, says Ms.me Bechara. He had not yet been met by investigators at the time of this writing.
The link between the victim and the suspect has not yet been identified.
The restaurant was evacuated and secured after police arrived. No suspects were apprehended in the case as of late Thursday evening.
