The Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI), which will have to shed light on the circumstances of this case, reports that the medical personnel fear for the life of the teenager.
According to preliminary information obtained by the BEI, around 12:10 a.m., patrol officers from the Service de police de la Laval (SPL) wanted to intercept a vehicle that had violated the Highway Safety Code in the Chomedey district. Since the driver of the car allegedly refused to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The driver would have traveled at high speed towards the east on boulevard Saint-Martin Ouest. At the intersection of rue du Couvent, he collided with the moped.
The teenager who was driving the moped was then transported to a hospital. As for the 18-year-old man who was driving the fleeing car, he was apprehended at the scene by SPL police.
Six BEI investigators were tasked with investigating the exact circumstances of the event. The parallel investigation was entrusted to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which will also act as a support police service.
