Laval daycare tragedy | The accused will stand trial for premeditated murder

Pierre Ny St-Amand, the bus driver accused of killing two children and injuring four by ramming into a daycare in Laval last year, was summoned to stand trial following a preliminary investigation that lasted four days.

The 52-year-old man will therefore face trial for premeditated murder, according to the decision of judge François Landry rendered Thursday afternoon at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse. He is accused of driving into an educational daycare in Laval with a bus from the city’s transportation network on February 8, 2023.

He is also charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

A court order prevents us from broadcasting the content of testimony heard over the past four days.

The preliminary investigation aims to determine whether all the evidence is sufficient to hold a trial.
