In September 2021, information received from the public allowed members of the Organized Crime and General Crime Squads to begin a weapon possession investigation involving 29-year-old Marlon Étienne-Lafontant, summarizes the Police Department of Laval (SPL).

The suspect is mainly active in drug trafficking in the Laval-des-Rapides area, according to the police. Our sources consider some members of the FHB as possibly linked to several events involving firearms that occurred during the summer.

According to court documents, Lafontant is close to Jemsley Printemps-Sanon, alias JPS. The latter, also a member of the same criminal group, was arrested by the Laval police last month in connection with an attempted murder on Place Dumouchel. No one had been hit, despite a dozen projectiles fired in broad daylight.

Several searches were carried out on September 28, targeting two residences and a vehicle. Authorities seized several cellphones, fake IDs, jewelry, narcotics and cash in Canadian currency.

Étienne-Lafontant is currently detained. He faces charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and drug trafficking. His return to court is scheduled for next Monday.

Another arrest

The Equinoxe squad arrested 19-year-old Eric Simon, also in connection with possession of a firearm. He was then in a licensed establishment frequently visited by the police.

Simon had a firearm in his possession at the time of his arrest, reports the SPL in its press release. He faces charges of possession of a prohibited firearm. He remains detained since his arrest and will appear in the Court of Quebec on October 12.

Anyone who has information concerning these searches and arrests, or any other event involving firearms, can communicate confidentially on the Info Line at 450 662-INFO (4636) or dial 911 and mention the LVL file 211 216 072.
