10 volunteer families in the Laval area
Ten families from the Laval agglomeration have volunteered to host Ukrainian refugees, according to the president of Laval Agglo, Florian Bercault. “We have received calls directly to the town hall and we are counting all the families who would like to welcome Ukrainian families at the scale of the agglomeration. explains Florian Bercault, who is also mayor of Laval. The agglomeration of Laval also identifies its accommodation capacities with social landlords: Méduane Habitat, for example, has about ten housing units that could be mobilized on “short or medium term“.
The elected officials of Laval agglomeration are in contact with the prefecture of Mayenne to identify the available accommodation. Holiday centers could also be requisitioned to accommodate Ukrainian refugees. “The department is considering putting vacancies in colleges“, says Florian Bercault, the president of Laval Agglo. Each community of municipalities in Mayenne centralizes the available accommodation and then sends a list to the prefecture of Mayenne.
