(Laval) A 70-year-old woman was fatally struck Wednesday morning as she tried to walk across Boulevard des Laurentides in Laval.

According to information sent by the Service de police de la Ville de Laval (SPL), a call was received on Wednesday morning to report a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian which occurred around 10:35 a.m.
According to the reported story, a 17-year-old female driver driving a van was traveling eastbound on rue de Genève when she wanted to take boulevard des Laurentides. At the same time, the pedestrian was trying to cross the boulevard and she was mowed down by the driver who would not have seen her.
The 70-year-old victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Laurentides Boulevard was closed in both directions between Rotterdam and Anvers streets for much of the day to allow investigators to analyze the scene.
