Quebecer Laurie Blouin reached the slopestyle final, in snowboarding, on the night of Friday to Saturday at the Beijing Olympics, she who took seventh place in qualifying.
Of the 30 participants, only the first 12 obtained their ticket for the final.
Blouin thus had a more than respectable first run, which enabled him to amass 66.85 points. On his second attempt, the 25-year-old improved his lot with a performance of 71.55 points.
Everything went less well for the other two Canadians in the running. Jasmine Baird amassed 49.50 points on her first run but was unable to improve on her score on her second, which she instead fell to finish in 16and square. Same story on the side of Brooke Voigt, who posted 37.11 points after an attempt, before falling during the second, which earned him 22and rank.
New Zealand’s Zoi Sadowski-Synnott posted the best qualifying score with 86.75 points. The final will take place on Saturday evening (Quebec time).
