Laurentides: the SQ is investigating a suspicious fire in Brownsburg-Chatham

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating a suspicious fire that targeted a commercial and industrial building in Brownsburg-Chatham, in the Laurentians, on Tuesday.

The call came in around 4:20 a.m. for a fire that broke out in the building of a public works company located on Route du Nord.

Several fire departments from neighboring towns were called to the rescue to lend a hand to the Brownsburg-Chatham firefighters.

The investigation has been transferred to the SQ, which will try to determine the causes and circumstances of this fire, spokesperson Marythé Bolduc confirmed.

A security perimeter has been erected to allow investigators to carry out their work, it was added.

The extent of the damage caused by the blaze is unknown at this time.
