The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) indicated that the body was recovered from the waters of the river following a citizen call, shortly after 9 a.m. The identity of the victim will not be revealed since it is a minor.
The young girl had fallen into the waters of the river on May 12, in Sainte-Adèle, while standing under the bridge on rue Rolland with three other people. She would have slipped off the rocky surface before falling into the strong current of the stream.
The SQ had conducted research for several days to find the teenager before announcing Friday that it was suspending them.
The investigation is continuing to determine the causes and circumstances of the event, the SQ said in a press release.
