(La Conception) A motorist died Monday evening following a collision with a tanker transporting diesel, in the municipality of La Conception, in the Laurentians.
The collision would have occurred around 2 p.m. on Route 117, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The 91-year-old driver of the car was transported to a hospital where he was unfortunately declared dead.
The driver of the tanker was also taken to hospital, but his life is out of danger.
“Technicians from Urgence-Environnement are currently on site since there was a fuel spill,” said SQ sergeant Catherine Bernard. They will assess the damage caused by the dumping in nature.
Firefighters are also on the scene to monitor the risk of fire.
Route 117 between Route des Tulipes and Boulevard du Curé-Labelle is closed in both directions for an indefinite period. A detour has been set up.
