Laurentians | An octogenarian dies after a serious accident on the A-15

One of four people in vehicles involved in a violent accident Friday on Highway 15 has died from his injuries. Another is still in critical condition.

The accident occurred near kilometer 64, in the Sainte-Adèle sector. Around 2:20 p.m., the first vehicle, which was traveling southbound, completely crossed the central reservation and violently hit the second, which was coming in the opposite direction.

The 84-year-old victim, who died in the evening, was the passenger in the vehicle heading north. The driver, an octogenarian, is out of danger.

The driver of the vehicle which deviated from its path, aged around forty, is in critical condition. We no longer fear for the life of the passenger, in her sixties.

The event forced the closure of Highway 15 for nearly five hours, before reopening around 7:15 p.m. The detour temporarily put in place by the authorities caused significant congestion throughout the afternoon, as it began the Thanksgiving long weekend.
