At the end of the day on Sunday, the emergency services were called on Payment Road, a small residential and wooded street in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts which runs along Lake Papineau.

A child was playing slide on his land. He ended up in the street and was hit by a passing car.

Seriously injured, the child was transported to Saint-Jérôme hospital, where he is in critical condition.

The driver was not injured.

At first glance, no criminal element is involved, according to the Sûreté du Québec. The police conducted scene expertise to better understand the circumstances of the tragedy.
