The RN candidate for the first constituency of Haut-Rhin has just been excluded from the Rassemblement National group in the Grand Est region. On July 3, he was the author of a serious slip-up regarding the Holocaust.
Laurent Gnaedig excluded from the RN group of the Grand Est Region: this is information from our colleagues at France Bleu Alsace. The cause: his comments on the Holocaust, made on February 3 on BFM Alsace. The candidate had then explained that he did not detect any sign of anti-Semitism in the description of the Holocaust as a “simple detail of History”.
If he had apologized that same evening, that did not prevent the RN leadership from considering a sanction, a sanction that came a few days later and was confirmed by Laurent Jacobelli, the president of the Rassemblement National group in the Grand Est region. The instruction would have come from the party’s executive office. Still according to Laurent Jacobelli: “The national conflicts commission will meet afterwards, probably by next September, in order to decide whether or not to exclude Laurent Gnaedig from the party.”
The person concerned – unreachable this Saturday – had been beaten in the second round of the early legislative elections, in the 1st constituency of Haut-Rhin, that of Colmar-Neuf-Brisach, by the outgoing Brigitte Klinkert.
