Speed skater Laurent Dubreuil received the title of athlete of the year for the greater Quebec City region on Thursday, on the occasion of the 50e Athlete Gala presented by Beneva. It thus became the 11e member of a select club of those who have received this award more than once.
The athlete from Lévis is therefore now part of a group including Gaétan Boucher (2), Pierre Harvey (3), Sylvie Bernier (2), Myriam Bédard (3), Caroline Brunet (6), Mélanie Turgeon (2), Marie-Hélène Prémont (2), Kalyna Roberge (2), Alex Harvey (5) and Antoine Valois-Fortier (2), all of whom have been honored more than once over the years. He becomes the seventh in history to be named twice in a row since he had also been consecrated in 2020. There was no gala in 2021.
