Laurent Berger, secretary general of the CFDT, will meet Wednesday, March 8, in the morning at the National Assembly, Republican deputies opposed to the pension reform, according to information from France Inter. Firmly opposed to the reform, he responded favorably to the invitation of the deputy Les Républicains Aurélien Pradié while the text is currently being debated in the Senate.

>> Pension reform: follow our live

The president of the Republicans, Eric Ciotti, had dismissed Aurélien Pradié from his post as number two in the party after disagreements over the pension reform. The elected Lot reserved the right not to vote for the text, despite the agreement between LR and the government.

Only a dozen LR deputies against the reform

The objective of Laurent Berger’s visit to the National Assembly is to dialogue with all LR deputies. This meeting with right-wing opponents of the reform is a way of putting even more pressure on the executive, as we enter a decisive week, with the mobilization of March 7 and the examination of the text in the Senate.

While the number of LR deputies opposed to the reform remains undecided, only about ten have publicly displayed their opposition. “Will Laurent Berger overturn certain right-wing deputies?”asks France Inter. “In this battle, for lack of negotiations with the unions, parliamentarians have the upper hand (…) so, yes, we have to go see them”several high-ranking members of the CFDT responded to France Inter.
