Canoeist Laurence Vincent Lapointe, double medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, has put an end to her sports career.
The athlete from Trois-Rivières, who will soon be 30 years old, has decided to focus on his studies in physiotherapy at the University of Montreal.
Vincent Lapointe marked the world of canoeing with the conquest of 13 world titles and 2 Olympic medals: silver in the C1 200 meters as well as bronze in the C2 500 meters in duet with Ontario’s Katie Vincent.
These two medals put a balm on two difficult years. His C1 race on the waters of the Sea Forest Canal in Tokyo was his first international competition since 1er June 2019. Long roadmap
When she was able to resume training, the pandemic blocked all the boats at the dock, a “stations of the cross” which also had a great impact on Vincent, her partner in C2, caught in spite of herself in all this whirlwind.
In addition to these two Olympic medals, Vincent Lapointe won the gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in the C1 200 meters. She won world titles in the C1 200 meters and the C2 500 meters at the 2010, 2011, 2013, 2017 and 2018 championships. She also won the C1 200 meters in 2014 as well as the C1 5000 meters at the 2018 Worlds.
