After the numerous forums in support of or against Gérard Depardieu, French cinema continues its Me Too by targeting the director Philippe Garrel, father of Louis Garrel, and father-in-law of Lætitia Casta. Now aged 75, he was the subject of an investigation signed Médiapart in the summer of 2023, which highlighted “behavior”likely to be classified as sexual assault or attempted sexual assault. While actress Anna Mouglalis, which toured in 2013 in “Jealousy” with Louis Garrel, accuses him of having had an inappropriate attitude with her, Laura Smet took his defense.

Today, while 5 women testify against director Philippe Garrel, Anna Mouglalis explained in C l’hebdo on France 5: “I denounce a predatory attitude, the meaning of my testimony is to provide support to those who cannot speak.”
She ensures: “He says it clearly, that he needs to sleep with his actresses. I haven’t experienced that” And to remember: “I had already shot the film [La Jalousie, sorti en 2013]but he asked me to give him texts to read […] on female desire. And so I suggested that he read extracts from texts.”
“There was none, no desire. I sent him back”
Anna Mouglalis (who was at the time with the businessman Vincent Raes, whom she was about to marry) reports that during the reading, Philippe Garrel “lying on his bed”. “It’s so huge, even though there were two sofas right next to it in the living room.” she says. She also believes: “That is to say, he wanted me to explain female desire to him in a way that was probably a little more literal. There was no desire. I sent him away.”
