” Be competitive as soon as possible “. This is one of the objectives of László Bölöni, the new coach of FC Metz. Before resuming training this morning in Frescaty, the Romanian technician got to know the local press on Thursday.
The new garnet coach announced the arrival of Christophe Delmottethe former coach of Valenciennes, as assistant coach and the maintenance of the two physical trainers (Florian Simon and Aurélien Denotti) and the goalkeeper coach (Christophe Marichez) who were already working with his predecessor Fred Antonetti.
His mission, we know it: to bring FC Metz back to L1. More than 20 years after his last experience in L2, he was then on the bench of Nancy, László Bölöni will find a championship which promises to be very disputed, with only two climbs to the elite of French football and four descents in National. The Romanian says he is ready to take up the challenge.
He made a phone call to Vincent Hognon
The new FC Metz coach recognizes this: he has not followed the club’s last matches at the Croix de Lorraine in Ligue 1. So, to get an idea of the current squad, he watched a few matches and he s is interviewed with Vincent Hognonthe GF38 coach and former garnet house.
He also mentioned the fate of Didier Lamkel Ze, the Cameroonian striker who played a few matches in L1 with FC Metz. The latter mentioned the wish to play with the Garnets in Ligue 2. “I love the player, but his behavior can annoy his teammates”, slipped the Romanian technician, who discovered him in Belgium in Antwerp. For Bölöni, “it’s 50-50”!
The garnet technician also mentioned his playing philosophy: defense will be one of his priorities, while recalling that he also likes his team to move forward, but not just anyhow: “I am a chess player, not poker”, he concluded!
FC Metz’s first league match is scheduled for July 30 against Amiens.
