last rehearsal for the Blues before the Euro… Follow and comment on the match live

After their victory without trembling against Luxembourg (3-0), the Blues play their second and last preparation match before the European Championship (from June 14 to July 14), against Canada, in Bordeaux, Sunday June 9 ( 21 hours).

Fill up on confidence

This is the last step point. Facing Canada, the French team is aiming for a victory to end its preparation for the Euro on a good note. They started it by logically winning against Luxembourg (3-0), in a match which notably saw Kylian Mbappé find the net, and Bradley Barcola prove decisive for his first selection. Didier Deschamps and his men are undoubtedly hoping for just as much success to build up their confidence before the start of the German adventure.

An (almost) unprecedented opponent

The evening’s bill almost looks like a premiere. In Bordeaux, the French and Canadian selections will face each other for only the second time in their history. Their first meeting dates back to 1986, during the first match of the group stage of the World Cup in Mexico. The Blues won by the narrowest of margins (1-0) thanks to a goal from Jean-Pierre Papin. Almost 40 years later, the Canadians, who will participate in their first Copa America this summer, hope to play a bad trick on the Blues and take their revenge.

Last doubts to be resolved

This last meeting should also provide an opportunity to take stock of the infirmary and the physical state of the group. If Didier Deschamps announced, at a press conference, that Aurélien Tchouaméni would not be available, and that Adrien Rabiot and Ousmane Dembélé, spared and ill against the Luxembourgers, could make their return to the starting eleven. The case of Dayot Upamecano, released after feeling discomfort in his adductors, will also be worth monitoring.
