Last day of pleadings for the defense of Salah Abdeslam in the trial of the 2015 attacks, Friday, June 24. The verdict is expected on Wednesday.

After nine months of hearing, it is surely the most awaited argument of the trial of the attacks of November 13. Friday, June 24, Salah Abdeslam’s lawyers will plead one last time before the judges. Their client incurs incompressible life imprisonment, the heaviest penalty in the Penal Code, for his alleged role in the attacks in Paris and Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis). After six years of silence, Salah Abdeslam had finally delivered to the court the story of his 13-November.

He admitted that his mission was to drop off a commando at the Stade-de-France (Saint-Denis), then to commit an attack himself. “I’m going to go to a café in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, order a drink. I’m going to look at the people around me. And I say to myself: I’m not going to do it. […] I gave up out of humanity. Not out of fear”, he confided. A term at the heart of the depositions, which could have shocked on the benches of the civil parties. The verdict is expected for Wednesday, June 29.
