More than 20 meters long, the skeleton of “Vulcan”, an apatosaurus about 150 million years old, will be sold in November. Estimate: between 3 and 5 million euros.

Here is Vulcan. A 150 million year old apatosaurus and quite a pedigree. The reconstruction of the dinosaur’s skeleton, exhibited in Dampierre-en-Yvelines (Yvelines), required hours of work. A giant puzzle. It was necessary to assemble the vertebrae to the legs up to the skull for an impressive result. A meticulous mission 4 meters high and more than 20 meters long. Dizzying measurements like the price, estimated between 3 and 5 million euros.

The fossil of this apatosaurus is visible to the general public. The history of these animals has always fascinated and piqued the interest of all ages. Composed of 75 to 80% of the original bones, more than 20 meters long, the imposing specimen is the largest dinosaur ever put up for auction. The skeleton of Vulcan was discovered in 2018 in Wyoming, United States. The fossil was then shipped to France for processing.
