With 33.13% of the vote, this is unprecedented for the National Rally to come out on top in the first round of the legislative elections. Will this surge be enough to have an absolute majority at the end of the second round?
Scene of jubilation in Hénin-Beaumont (North), Sunday June 30, where the National Rally (RN) came out on top in the legislative elections with 33.13% of the vote. “We are super happy with the result. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time”, comments a woman from Hénin. “We need change,” adds another. “We’ve been waiting for this for a long time, it’s becoming more and more clear, we’re at the gates [du pouvoir]”completes another.
The RN hopes to obtain an absolute majority in the National Assembly. This is the condition set by Jordan Bardella to become Prime Minister. But to prevent his coming to power, the New Popular Front (NFP) and the presidential camp are considering a republican front, which could involve withdrawals in the event of triangulars. But will all the candidates with unfavorable ballots agree to withdraw?
