Monday, July 18, large retailers decided to take a step to reduce their energy consumption, following the recent recommendations of the President of the Republic. Katherine Flushing was on set to explain how the area decided to take action.

Monday, July 18, a dozen major brands such as Leclerc, Carrefour, Système U or Picard have announced concrete measures in favor of energy savings.

“Switching off signs as soon as stores close, halving lighting before the public arrives and 30% during peak consumption and lowering the temperature this fall and winter if the authorities so request. Measures that will be put in place on October 15. Objective: to lower the energy bill and the electricity bill. It represented 30% of the results of these brands before soaring energy costs“, details Catherine Flushing on a tray.

But the retail giants shouldn’t be the only ones to make the effort. In stores, already, turn off the neon signs there too. In offices, on the computer side, for example, completely turn off the screens at night. Favor laptops, they consume half as much as a landline. Limit the number of printers“, reports the journalist.

We also look at air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems. They may malfunction or simply be too old. However, they represent half of a building’s energy consumption. Savings could thus be made.
