consumer association UFC-Que Choisir denounces the inequalities on the territory in the face of nursing home. It calls for the creation of public establishments so that everyone has access to them.

In a nursing home public near Poitiers (Vienna)a resident pays 1,860 euros per month. In another private space near Paris (Ile-de-France)it is the double: around 4,000 euros per month. Why such disparities between the two? In Vienne, a woman visited several establishments before choosing one for her father. She chose ”Here we were told it was very good and it is the cheapest. Everything is included : services, laundry, meals, activities ». The price of this nursing home public is set by the Department, i.e. 62 euros per day.

This which costs the most in terms of the institution’s budget, it is in particular staff costs which represent more than 70-75% of our overall budget. And then after all the current expenses that are currently increasing: food, energy, gas in particular’‘, says Celine Bigeaudirector of thenursing home Chestnut trees in Chauvigny (Vienna). But France lacks establishments like this. According to one study, wherever the number ofnursing home private increases, the average cost of accommodation also increases.
