Many demonstrators marched on Sunday January 21 to denounce the immigration law and the distinction it establishes between French and foreign workers. Sophie Binet, general secretary of the CGT, was notably present in Paris.
At the call of 201 personalities, many French people gathered against the immigration law on Sunday January 21, notably at Place du Trocadéro in Paris. Many political leaders had made the trip to denounce a law which confirms the ideological victory of the extreme right. “Equal pay for equal work, and let’s not distinguish between workers based on their origin or skin color”demanded the national secretary of the Communist Party, Fabien Roussel.
Demonstrations organized throughout France
“We are here to challenge Gérald Darmanin and tell him that he must stop the double talk. He claims that this law is there to allow the regularization of foreign workers. The opposite is happening, since since three months, we have workers who have proven their work, with certificates provided by their employers, and whom the Ministry of the Interior refuses to regularize”, lamented Sophie Binet, general secretary of the CGT. Nearly 160 demonstrations were organized throughout France, notably in Brest (Finistère) and Montpellier (Hérault).
