Five years ago, to the day, Claudine Luypaerts, known as Maurane, breathed her last. Since then, rumors surrounding his death have unleashed passions. It was not until last July that her daughter, Lou Villafranca, broke the silence on the circumstances of her mother’s disappearance. “It’s an accident”, she says. “I don’t want to say more. She took a fall. Media or artists have mentioned a suicide, this is not the case at all. I was sad that we were considering this. She would go back on stage, sing again… It was absurd to say that.”
Touched by the death of the artist, Lara Fabian wanted to pay tribute to the interpreter of All the moms this Sunday, May 7, 2023. On her Instagram account, Lara Sophie Katy Crokaert, her real name, shared an excerpt from the song You are my othersung in duet with Maurane. “Mau…forever…in my heart and in my thoughts…I love you”, she wrote in the caption. A post that sparked strong reactions.
